New timber, or floors with highly visible scratches, imperfections, or that are severely worn, must be sanded prior to coating.
  • Remove stains, dirt, wax, grease and oil with mineral turpentine.
  • If the surface has been polished, remove all polish using a suitable floor polish remover.

  • Sand the surface smooth using 180–240 grit sandpaper, working only in the direction of the grain.
  • Remove all sanding dust before proceeding.

1
Clean Surface
  • Thoroughly clean the surface with Cabot’s Floor Clean and allow it to dry completely.
2
Test Adhesion
  • Apply one coat to a small test area and allow to dry for 3 hours.
3
Check Results
  • Press sticky tape firmly onto the test area and pull off quickly.
  • If the coating lifts, sand back to a sound surface before continuing.
