Get started with Cabot's Aquadeck
Almost any deck can be restored and brought back to life by following the steps outlined below.
Aquadeck is a highly durable, low odour water based decking oil is lightly pigmented and has been designed to enhance and protect the natural look of your exterior timber. Hard-wearing, it lasts two times longer than other oil-based decking oils – no more constant re-application!
Aquadeck's advanced dual technology allows natural oils to penetrate and nourish timber, creating a durable acrylic barrier for a beautiful natural finish. It is ideal for use on decks, garden furniture, pergolas, fences and gates.
We used 2 coats of Cabot's Aquadeck Natural on Spotted Gum timber for this sample.
Prepare
Before you get started, there are a few things you’ll need to do first – preparation is key!
Preparing the surface properly before you begin allows the oil to glide on smoothly for even coverage.
Use sandpaper or a paint stripper to thoroughly remove the existing coating from the timber surface.
Clean with Cabot’s Deck Clean following the instructions provided on the product label for best results.
Use Cabot’s Deck Clean to clean the timber surface completely, following the label instructions.
Sprinkle a small amount of water on the timber surface.
If the water beads on the surface, the timber needs more sanding.
If the water soaks into the timber, it’s ready to be coated.
Sand back the surface to expose fresh wood.
Use Cabot’s Deck Clean to clean the surface and remove dust, dirt, and residue.
Once dried, your timber is ready for the next steps or use.
Apply
Use a broad, flat paddle to stir Cabot’s Aquadeck thoroughly before and during use.
Use a suitable timber putty to fill any holes and surface imperfections before proceeding.
Using the Cabot's Deck Coat Applicator, apply the product liberally along the length of each board, including exposed edges and the ends of each board.
After you’re finished applying, leave your deck to dry for one hour before applying a second coat. Too easy!
And you’re done! Now all that’s left is to pull out those deck chairs, pour yourself a refreshing drink and get out into the sunshine.
